Janus-Faced Echo Bemoans Local Job Losses

Spare a thought for the workers at the Ladbrokes call centre in Aintree who were told this week that the operation is to close with the loss of up to 263 jobs (http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news/2009/11/20/hundreds-of-liverpool-jobs-are-being-shed-in-a-devastating-move-by-betting-shop-giant-ladbrokes-100252-25211528/ ).
Of course, the Oldham Echo weeps crocodile tears over the loss of "Liverpool jobs", itself having made 100 Liverpool printers redundant with its switch to Greater Manchester this year (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/merseyside/7599729.stm ).

As I have bemoaned in earlier posts and elsewhere - the Liverpool One construction site should have provided more jobs for local building workers. Not a peep from Oldham Hall Street about this, of course that would not have been "on message" with the rag's owners and advertisers.
